Joffrey Quillet’s Story

“The Master’s program gave me a chance twice, first as a student and then as a teacher, and for its 20th anniversary, I want to thank it properly.”

Story from Joffrey Quillet, instructor in web content management and former CAWEB student

I joined the CAWEB adventure in 2009 as a student. I still remember the names and faces of all my teachers from that time. Each of them impacted how I approach my profession today, my interactions with colleagues in different fields, and my work methods.

But my most memorable experiences in the master’s program came afterward, when I joined the teaching team and was given the chance to contribute and learn even more! In 12 years “on the other side,” I’ve had my share of funny, touching, enriching, and rewarding experiences.

I could mention my first class: very nervous and awkward, I stood before a new M2 cohort and explained how I planned to work with them throughout the year. I quickly told them that formal address wasn’t necessary since we were almost the same age. The response was brutal: “Well, sir, two years is a big difference; you’re old!”

I could also talk about a student who, years after graduating from the master’s program, regularly keeps me updated on her professional progress and still seeks my advice.

I could tell you about an interview conducted with students for their video course, where we had such engaging discussions about the future of our profession that we forgot the interview questions and drained the camera’s battery before filming everything we had planned.

I also remember the touching 10th-anniversary celebration, where everyone present expressed a deep sense of gratitude and belonging to the master’s program.

This is how I feel today: the master’s program gave me a chance twice, first as a student and then as a teacher, and for its 20th anniversary, I want to thank it properly.

Thank you to Renate for her unwavering trust and kindness year after year.

Thank you to all my former professors for their valuable advice and for welcoming me into the teaching team.

Thank you to all the students I’ve had the privilege of guiding and, I hope, helping a little to find their path or achieve their dreams!

Happy birthday CAWEB ! “
