When we say “square formats”, what comes to mind?
Founded by Kevin Systrom in 2010, Instagram was an obvious choice for this photography fan from an early age! The name comes from instant camera and telegram.
25,000 app downloads in a single day, if that’s not an instant success!
You’re probably wondering why Instagram was originally all about square formats?
Well, quite simply, because during his studies at Stanford, Kevin Systrom was encouraged to use cameras with a Holga lens, a lens built by Chinese photography fans with the aim of democratizing its use, so that everyone would be able to handle it. It has its faults, such as blur, poor exposure and distorted colors, which today’s cameras seek to correct, but above all it’s a lens that captures the moment in square format.
Since then, many new features have been added to continue to attract and retain users.
