At a time when the digital industry develops at ever greater speeds, it\u2019s not uncommon to face difficulties defining new notions and new emerging lines of work. It isn\u2019t always easy to perceive the difference between <\/span>UX and UI design<\/b>, especially since the two concepts are both resembling and complementary. In the IT world\u2019s slang, you\u2019ll often hear about <\/span>UX <\/strong>and <\/span>UI<\/strong>, or <\/span>User Experience <\/strong>and <\/span>User Interface. <\/strong>If these two notions sound like gibberish to you, read the following and you might just understand it a little bit better.<\/span><\/p>\n

UX is not UI but is UX<\/h2>\n

At times, <\/span>UX <\/b>is mixed in with <\/span>UI. <\/b>It means that the user experience<\/b> is more or less limited to browsing a website with an intuitive design<\/b> in order to access information without having to type lines upon lines of code. In fact, the user interface is the link between the human and the machine<\/b>. It\u2019s the \u201cfinished product\u201d offered to the internet user, which allows them to browse your website without having to invest too much effort into doing so.<\/span><\/p>\n

UIs are brainstormed and different approaches come out of it: which typography to use? How to organize the information to make browsing the website as intuitive as possible? In short, UI is the sum of the organization of graphical and textual elements to make it visually appealing<\/b>.<\/span><\/p>\n

But to make for a comfortable and, dare I say, memorable, user experience, a well-polished UI won\u2019t cut it. It\u2019d be a bit like wrapping an empty cardboard box in fancy wrapping paper. Indeed, the UI most result from a more in-depth work, that of the User Experience<\/b>, which amounts to the global consideration of the user\u2019s needs. The real challenge of UX is to bring efficient solutions<\/b> to the needs of and numerous problems faced by internet users. In short, thinking up a concept revolving around the user.<\/span><\/p>\n

Experience design<\/h3>\n

When is it appropriate to talk about \u201cexperience design<\/b>\u201d? Since we made the whole concept of \u201cexperience\u201d clearer, we must now think about it, imagine it, design it, and create it. Its design must provoke the experience, and the user experience must be the right one. It’s important to understand that design doesn\u2019t just mean picking up a brush in Photoshop<\/b> and making cool squares here and there. Here, the word \u201cdesign\u201d is closer to \u201cconception\u201d than it is of \u201cvisual creation\u201d. In the world of \u201cexperience design\u201d, the design, by itself, is worthless if he doesn\u2019t take into account user experience<\/b>.<\/span><\/p>\n

The UX designer vs they UI designer<\/h2>\n

The interface designer will wonder \u201cWhat color should that button be for it to really stand out at first sight?\u201d. But before that, the experience designer \"comparison will have asked himself \u201cDo we really need that button?\u201d. That conception could apply to something completely unrelated to the world of IT. <\/span><\/p>\n

Let’s role play<\/h3>\n

Let\u2019s take a car manufacturer as an example:<\/span><\/p>\n

UI Designer<\/em>: \u201cHow can we make that side-view mirror the most beautiful in the whole car industry?\u201d <\/span><\/p>\n

The answer: \u201cI will look at the most beautiful ones on the market today, get inspired, and create.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

UX Designer<\/em>: \u201cDo our clients use side-view mirrors?\u201d<\/p>\n

The answer: \u201cI will carry out market research, ensure that tests are performed and draw conclusions from there.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Conclusion<\/h3>\n

UI Designer <\/b>and <\/span>UX Designer <\/b>are different jobs that need each other in order to create a successful user experience. That\u2019d be the outline of the idea. The two jobs are often get confused, but you have to understand that a good designer, a real good one, can reflect upon his users and draw conclusions, all the while answering the problems we mentioned earlier.<\/span><\/p>\n

The <\/span>UX designer focuses on both the emotional and psychological aspects of the user experience<\/b>. It\u2019s really close to what an interaction designer would be. It also implies sharing the results of<\/span> their research<\/span> about client feedback during the use of the product in order to create an optimal, perfected interface. Being a <\/span>UI designer on the other hand, is linked to the practical elements of interface creation<\/b>. It means being an expert on the interactive tools they work with. However, a <\/span>UI designer is prone to sometimes forgetting the overall feeling generated when someone is using their application. And that\u2019s when the <\/span>UX designer kicks in in a complementary manner<\/b>.<\/span><\/p>\n

To limit one\u2019s vision solely to user experience or user interface does not allow for a completed final product. A final product is an intuitive, functional interface that holds its promises and (especially important) that fits your audience.<\/b><\/b><\/span><\/p>\n
